Gibbons Insights began years ago with a desire my husband and I shared to build something together. We had purchased the website and had only begun imagining what it might become when he experienced his first stroke. Life took a turn neither of us expected, and we set our plans aside.
Over time, I walked beside him through three major strokes, stays in intensive care, and rehabilitation. Then, one ordinary night in 2022, just two weeks after our 35th wedding anniversary, a final stroke took him at home in our living room. I will always carry that memory, along with the lingering wish that I could have done more.
Six months later, my brother died. Across the years, I have also grieved the deaths of my father, grandparents, beloved in-laws, aunts, uncles, a nephew, and many dear friends. Each loss was different, and each left its own mark.
More recently, my siblings and I cared for our mother and stepfather through a prolonged decline and some of the hardest decisions imaginable. They died just eight days apart.
Throughout these seasons, I continued balancing family life and a full-time career. For more than four decades, I have worked in business, leadership, analytics, and technology. Later in life, I returned to school to pursue graduate studies in psychology.
Years later, I returned to the name Gibbons Insights. What my husband and I once hoped to build together has taken a different shape, one formed by our shared life and everything that followed. I believe he would be proud that our vision has become something shaped by both of us: by the life he lived and the work I am carrying forward.

Loss has taught me that grief does not begin or end at a single moment. It can begin during illness and caregiving, continue through difficult decisions and goodbyes, and remain as we learn to live in a life that no longer feels familiar.
It can bring exhaustion, guilt, questions, and changes in identity. It can also reveal the depth of family love, the strength required to keep showing up, and the importance of having a place to pause without being expected to have every answer.
Through the Stories & Reflections and upcoming Books & Resources, I offer thoughtful insights rooted in experience, compassion, and the belief that resilience develops through quiet, consistent acts of showing up despite uncertainty.
My hope is to offer understanding, steadiness, and encouragement to those navigating grief, caregiving, identity shifts, and life transitions as they find their footing again. This space offers a moment to pause, reflect, and regain strength without the pressure to have all the answers immediately.
The lighthouse pictured here also carries part of our shared story. He loved lighthouses, and I loved road trips. During one of our journeys along the Oregon Coast, he took the photograph that I later turned into a watercolor. I adapted this image from my original painting. It feels fitting that something created from a memory we shared now represents the work we once hoped to build together.
